Team Kimpossible has decided as a team we are going to “sponsor a survivor” for this year’s Tampa Susan G. Komen 3-day for the Cure. All of you who have participated in a 3-day event know first hand the amazing community that surrounds the event. Unfortunately there are survivors out there who have never experienced that and have no idea the incredible amount of support they have through the 3-day. Because of this, we want to dedicate ourselves to introducing a survivor to the 3-day by helping them raise their $2300 minimum and “holding their hand” through the event so they can experience first hand the magic of the 3-day. Once we have selected a survivor we will be accepting donations on their behalf to help us make our dream a reality!
Stay tuned!

I am a 9 month breast cancer survivor who is walking this year for her first time. Are you having a contest to select a survivor and if you are, how do I apply??
Way to go!!!
Lisa, first of all, congratulations on your recovery. You are the reason we walk, the reason we spend months raising money each year, and the reason we come back year after year doing it all over again so that hopefully one day, we can have an annual celebration because we have found a cure! What a day that will be! As for our survivor sponsorship, the spirit of that is to find somebody who doesn’t already know the 3-day and the amazing support that surrounds it, introduce them and hold their hand through the process. We don’t want the fund raising to be an obstacle so we pledge to make up the difference of whatever funds they cannot raise on their own. To be honest we don’t have a set procedure or policy for who can or cannot be sponsored as our survivor but the guideline that we are following for now is to introduce somebody new to the 3-day. I can however recommend a different survivor project put on by The 2nd Basement out of Tampa. That group is growing by leaps and bounds and they have a Project Survivor that they are doing in each of the Susan G. Komen 3-day cities. See http://the2ndbasemen.com/projectsurvivor/ for more information. Good luck and thank you for visiting our web site! Maybe we’ll see you if you’re in Tampa!
